Urhobo culture has often been expressed in political conflicts with powerful individuals and powerful political entities against whom the Urhobo as a wholesome unity stood opposed or else took a common stand. Such circumstances have been rendered into popular political songs that a generation of Urhobos sang as an affirmation of their cultural unity. We will present some of these political folk song songs in these pages.
