Dear Friends:

ON WARRI AS DELTA CITY

I agree with Dr T.M Smith's piece on the suggestion of renaming Warri as Delta City. Warri does not deserve it. We shall eventually have such a city and it may be the solution to many other problems way beyond the scale of the Warri crisis.

It will not be a city submerged in an avalanche of court rulings It is a name too beautiful for conflicts and destruction. Suffice to hang on for now to the promise of its coming. Maybe, just maybe, its creation will herald the peace and development that the Niger Delta craves.

Did I hear "ANOTHER CANAAN"?

No. Warri cannot by any stroke of imagination lay claim to Delta City. Warri did enough to bring about the name DELTA as a province. It cannot reclaim it. WHY? As compensation for all the troubles? I agree with Dr Smith a.ka. Aghraghala
