Thank you for your observations and suggestions. I hope that you are
pretty satisfied with the answers given by Bolaji to some of your questions.
It is partly my fault that you are not seeing the whole picture. I say
this because I have inadvertently not included the email of the Ijaw association
in the mailing list that I use. However, I have copied you and all others
on the mailing list, my communication to the Ijaw group. I shall include
it forthwith. It might appear that we are not in contact with all the Itsekiri
organizations and the Ijaw organizations, but we are indeed in touch with
them. The Itsekiris and the Ijaws do seem to have central organizations
and this has made contact easier. We have heard from the Ijaw central
organization and we are assuming that we have the blessing of the Itsekiri
central organization as we have been in touch with its National secretary,
Mr. Bawo Ayomike. Mr. Frank Porbeni who has been writing us directly seems
to have been doing so on his own, but as you can see from his reply to
your concerns, he has in fact been working from the vantage point of a
group; and he had assured us in the past of this.
Dr. Nakpodia recently expressed some concern about the phone from home
saying that it might tend to cause some distraction and publicity which
he did not think was necessary. It is therefore noteworthy that you have
expressed somewhat similar concerns. This has made it necessary for Bolaji
to clarify the reasons he thinks the phone calls are required. I think
it is
appropriate that we should know what is actually the position of things
at home while we try to address those issues here.
With the cooperation of all we should come up with some solution to the problems at home soon.
Sincerely,
Anino [Philip Ikomi]
