NINETH ANNUAL
URHOBO CONVENTION

Urhobo Progressive Association of
The
Board of Trustees (BOT) and Executive Council (EC) of Urhobo Progress Union,
North America (UPUNA) cordially invite all Urhobo, friends, and well wishers
to join us in the annual celebration of Urhobo culture during the United
States Labor Day Weekend, Friday, August 30 to Monday, September 02, 2002.
As part
of the effort to build and strengthen Urhobo unity, the theme for the 2002
convention is BUILDING BRIDGES.We
must find a way to build bridges to peace, patience, tolerance, love and
understanding as well as respect for one another. We must build bridges
that will lead to industrialization, employment, and prosperity. All 22
States (clans) of the Urhobo nation must identify a common purpose while
seeking ways to live in peace and harmony with all Deltans, indeed, Nigerians.
We must be willing to bury old wounds and hate that had tied our hands,
shackled our ankles, and blurred our visions in the past.We
must build a better and brighter future. This is our call! This is our
responsibility!! This is our challenge!!! - To facilitate and sustain a
new society in Urhobo and Delta south for the benefit of our selves and
generations to follow.Let us build
these bridges together.
